The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Florence Obi, has given the directive for motorists and visitors to be searched at all entry and exit points of the University Community.
The directive was conveyed in a release signed by the University Registrar, Mr Gabriel Egbe.
The release is coming on the heels of reports of increasing cases of theft and vandalisation of critical infrastructure of the University.
The release further states that all motorists are henceforth to present valid identity cards on request or be ready to have their vehicles impounded, in addition to facing arrest and persecution.

All Staff, Students and Visitors to the University are, by this directive requested to cooperate with the security personnel on duty as they carry out their mandate.
The Acting Chief Security Officer is by the given release, directed to ensure full compliance and bring all the defaulters to book.
