As the people of Anambra and Nigeria mourn late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, a politician, businessman, and entrepreneur who died on 27th July 2024 in London, let’s look briefly into his life while on earth.
Below are the things you should know about the late senator:
1. Senator Ifeanyi was born on September 3, 1971, in Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria. He attended St. Joseph’s Primary School after which he studied at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
2. Ubah was the founder and chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Ltd, a leading petroleum marketing company in Nigeria. He also had interests in real estate, banking, and sports.
3. In 2014, Ubah was elected as a senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He later defected to the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in 2018 and then the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

4. Ubah was the owner of Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club (FC Ifeanyi Ubah), a Nigerian professional football club and the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation.
5. He received several awards for his entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts, including the “African Entrepreneur of the Year” award.
6. Ifeanyi Ubah was a devout Christian and was married to Uchenna Ubah, a Business Administration graduate from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, with whom he has 5 children.
7. In September 2022, Ubah narrowly escaped assassination by unknown gunmen while on his way to Nnewi in Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State.
