Cross River State has confirmed two new monkeypox (Mpox) cases in Calabar, the state capital.
In a statement on Friday by Inyang Ekpenyong, State Epidemiologist, the two cases were recorded in Calabar Municipality Local Government Area.
“This is to bring to your notice that we have 2 new CONFIRMED cases of Mpox in Calabar Municipality,” the statement read.
It added, “Case management team have been informed for the urgent evacuation of the 2 cases to isolation centre.
“State/LGA RRT have commenced contact tracing, listing, and monitoring.
“Financial resources are urgently needed for response activities.”

CONVERSEER reports that one case was reported in August in Okoshe community in Obudu Local Government Area of the State.
