Security guard docked for allegedly stealing timber planks

Two men, Sunday Chibuike and Abubakar Ibrahim, have appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for alleged burglary and stealing.

The defendants are standing trial before the Magistrate, Mr L. J.K. Layeni, on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 8, at the Lord’s Plaza, Fancy and Furniture Section, Alaba International Market in Ojo.

He alleged that the defendants and others at large conspired to break into a store of one Mr Chibueze Nwagbu and stole some items.

He told the court that the items included seven cartons containing privacy glass for iPhones worth N3.3 million, and four cartons of 2 ID glass packs worth N160,000.

The alleged offences contravene the provisions of Sections 287, 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Layeni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each  in like sum.

He adjourned the case until May 17 for trial. (NAN)
