Labour Party, (LP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to explain to Nigerians why the 2023 presidential and national assembly elections in the nation were filled with irregularities.
This was disclosed by Mr Ogar Osim, Chairman of LP in Cross River during an interview with journalists on Tuesday in Calabar.
According to him, although, LP won the election in Cross River, they observed that INEC was not thorough as it claimed it would be before the commencement of the 2023 general election.

“We engaged INEC in a series of meetings before the election where they told us of the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, (BVAS).
“This encouraged a lot of citizens to register to vote in line with the electoral act but unfortunately what we have seen is a deviation from what we were told.
“In the collation centre today, we noticed a lot of irregularities from overvoting to massive malfunction of BVAS in many quarters without replacement which disenfranchised the people and a lot more,” he said.
He said as LP, they would make an official statement showing their disappointment with INEC and putting in details of some of the irregularities that happened in Odukpani, Biase, Obudu, Obubura, Boki and Akamkpa LGAs.
He added that everyone who loves Nigeria should persuade INEC to do the right thing as some of their activities were contradictory to what is contained in the electoral act and Nigerians demand an explanation. (NAN)
