Several hours after the conclusion of the Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Lagos State, no single result from any of the 20 Local Government Areas has arrived the State Collation Centre as at 1.00 p.m. on Sunday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Presidential and National Assembly elections were held simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation and Federal Capital Territory, on Saturday.
NAN gathered that collation of results was still at various stages in the state, some at the registration areas, federal constituencies, senatorial districts and local government collation centres.
Several stakeholders including domestic and foreign observers, the media, operatives of various security agencies, party agents and others are at the INEC office in Lagos waiting for the results.
While some stakeholders slept overnight at the centre, some arrived early in the morning to see the process start.
NAN reports that some party agents who arrived the venue at 12.30a.m., had to leave when the time was rescheduled.
Lagos state has a total voting population of no fewer than seven million registered voters spread across 13, 325 polling units in the 245 wards and 20 LGAs of the state.
Prof. Adenike Oladiji, Lagos State Collation Officer and Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, at the official opening of the centre on Saturday at 11.30 p.m., had said that collation centre would reconvene at 10.00 a.m. before it was rescheduled to 12:00 p.m.
She explained that it became imperative to reschedule because no single LGA result was available at the time. (NAN)
