Alh. Rabi’u Isah Taura, a New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for the Jigawa Northwest Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, has passed away.
After enduring a protracted period of excruciating back pain, Rabiu Taura passed away on Tuesday morning.
Under Sule Lamido’s government, he held the positions of Jigawa State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Commissioner of Land, and Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Later, he and his employer, Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, an NNPP candidate for governor who was then at odds with Lamido, switched to the party.

He is survived by his wives, kids, and grandkids.
In a statement given to journalists, Ringim confirmed the passing of Taura.
He characterised his passing as a significant loss for his family, the state, and the nation as a whole.
In his prayer, he asked Allah SWT to give the deceased’s soul eternal repose and the family the strength to endure the loss.
Ringim announced that the funeral prayer would be held in Taura Local Government on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
