21 journalists to feature in investigative training

About 1552 female Nigerian journalists have applied for the second phase of 2023 women centric investigative reporting training, the Women Radio Centre has said.

Ms Elizabeth Aboh, a Communications Officer at the centre said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
Aboh said that the centre had selected only 21 journalists and journos for the training.

“The 21 journalists and journos were shortlisted from 1552 applications and selected from the six geo-political zones and they will be coached and tutored by industry experts.

“The second edition of the residential training will address under-representation and under-reported issues surrounding women.

“It is imperative that we commit to unearth and uncover those stories that affect women and girls, with the overall goal of amplifying the voices of women.

“The goal is to create a balance in the investigative gender gap by raising the next generation of female investigative journalists across the country,” she said.

She said that successful participants who satisfactorily completed the training would receive accredited professional certificates from Nigeria’s top-ranked institution in journalism.(NAN)
