The Director General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Rev. Hon. James Anam has tasked political stakeholders in Calabar Municipality to complement government efforts in ensuring the security of lives and property of the people within their domains to guarantee an enabling environment for the smooth implementation of lofty intentions of Governor Bassey Otu for the masses.

Speaking while hosting stakeholders across the ten wards of the Municipality in his office, the SEMA DG opined that: “Though security remains a top priority for the government, it also requires a collective effort from key players in the society to guarantee the safety of lives and property of the citizenry.”

Rev. Anam disclosed that the Agency will be taking delivery of the 60 bags of rice per ward as approved by the Governor for distribution across the state this week attributing the delay to a logistic challenge by truckers.

Speaking on behalf of stakeholders after a personal donation of bags of rice and a cash gift from the DG, a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the last dispensation, Bishop Hon. Ekpenyong Iso applauded Governor Bassey Otu for concerted efforts to restore the clean and green status of the capital city as well as the slots allotted to the municipality in appointive positions.

The erstwhile Leader of the Calabar Municipal Legislative Council appreciated the SEMA DG for the sacrificial gesture stressing that the initiative would assist in taking care of others at the ward levels and urged others to emulate the feat while awaiting the bumper package from the state government.
