UNICAL VC receives NANS Life Patron award

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS have celebrated and conferred the quintessential Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, UNICAL, Prof. Florence Banku Obi as the Life Patron of the Association.

The Award and decoration of the VC took place on Wednesday (17 Jan. 2024) at the Council Chambers of the institution by the Cross River State NANS Joint Campus Committee Chairman, Comrade Iwara Michael Iwara and his entourage.

The NANS Chairman said: “We are glad that you’ve shown sheer competence, commitment, compassion, and selflessness in the promotion of quality and standard education in Nigeria.

“You have clearly proved that
Competence is not gender-based but personality. You have become a great icon of leadership distinction and a role model to Nigerian students

“OUR HONOUREE is one of the few Nigerian Leaders that fit into these descriptions as a woman with hard work, vision, commitment, humility, courage, competence, accessibility, mentor, and a beacon of hope and bridge builder.

“OUR HONOUREE’S sheer hard work and commitment has transformed the University of Calabar community into a tourist centre with numerous completed and ongoing state-of-the-art projects

“We the leadership of NANS in Cross River state are indeed proud of you. We are even more proud of you for allowing the students’ leadership in the institution to make input, and even accepting their resolutions in the most recent increment in school charges. It indeed shows that you are a leader who listens. This quality is rare in great Administrators of your repute. It is our prayer that may God Almighty reward you with good health, strength and protect you to continue with your excellent work for mankind”.
