We are up and running for this year’s Carnival Calabar as the Government of Cross River State announces the timetable for dry runs.
According to Austin Cobham,
Executive Secretary of the Cross River State Carnival Commission, the dry runs will commence this October and end December.
The Commission also introduced a dry run for Children known as Children’s Dry Run, following the reinstatement of Children’s Carnival By Governor Otu.
2023 Carnival Calabar Dry Run Timetable
1. First Dry Run
Date: 15th October 2023
Time: 1:30 pm
Venue: 12km Carnival Route
2. Second Dry Run
Date: 12th November 2023
Time: 1:30 pm
Venue: 12km Carnival Route
3. Third Dry Run
Date: 10th December 2023
Time: 1:30 pm
Venue: 12km Carnival Route
4. Children Dry Run
Date: 17th December 2023
Time: 1:30 pm

“The commission enjoins the public, especially churches and event planners to please take note of these dates and adjust their event times accordingly.
“However, the routes shall be partially closed and opened as carnival progresses”, Cobham said.
The following routes (roads) will be closed during these periods; Highway by Mobil to Eleven-Eleven (11-11) Rounadbout to Calabar Road by Total, through Mary Slessor Avenue to Mary Slessor Roundabout to Rabana Roundabout down to Efio Ette Roundabout through MCC to Mobil.
