Ugep, Cross River – The family of Mr Daniel Obono Ofem, the younger brother of High Chief Nelson Obono Ofem, is mourning the loss of their 5-year-old son TrustGod Daniel Ofem, who tragically fell into a well and died before help could arrive.
Converseer reports that the devastating incident occurred on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.
According to sources, little TrustGod was taken out for a visit with his mother when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Despite efforts to rescue him, the little boy was unable to survive the ordeal and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The father, Mr Daniel Obono Ofem, took to his Facebook page to express his grief and solicit prayers from friends and family.

In a heartbreaking post, he wrote: “I’m saddened. Please say a word of prayer for me. I lost my son yesterday 25th Dec, his name TrustGod, 5yrs. He was taken out for a visit with the Mum. TrustGod eventually fell into a well of water, drawn and died before help could come. Please put me in prayer.”
When contacted on the phone on Thursday, December 26, Mr Ofem confirmed the incident and was devastated and still mourning.
The news of TrustGod’s passing has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing their condolences and support for the grieving family.
The little boy was laid to rest in his family compound today, surrounded by loved ones and mourners.
