FCT APC rejects Wike’s lopsidedness appointments, abandonment of party

By Solomon Ogar

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the FCT have rejected the appointments of Chairman and Commissioners of the FCT Civil Service Commission and Coordinators of some critical Agencies and other appointments made by the Hon. Minister of FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike on Tuesday.

In a press statement issued by the Convener, Comrade Abdulwahab Ekekhide Abdulkadir and made available to newsmen in Abuja today, the leaders called for urgent attention to redress the lopsidedness and abandonment of the APC in FCT.

Ekekhide said that the Hon. Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike has killed APC in FCT by not appointing members of the party who have laboured to build the party and contributed to the election of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

“We are calling on the President to call the Minister to order so that he can retrace his steps and start empowering the party or else, the party will struggle to get 2% for the President in the 2027 Presidential election and may lose the next Area Councils election if the situation remains this way”.

The Convener said that so many appointments have been made since the Hon. Minister assumed office, but regretted that the Minister has perfected the act of importing strangers from outside the FCT for critical appointments to FCT Secretariats and Agencies.

“For record purposes, the Hon. Minister has just given an appointment to the immediate past State Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Hon. Felix Obuah as Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, AMMC. Can you imagine somebody that knows next to nothing about FCT?

“We want to let the President and the Hon. Minister know that we have capable people playing politics in the FCT, who have held political appointments before and have the capacity to occupy any position in government. We want to put it on record that we have people from all the Geopolitical Zones, playing politics in the FCT who are eminently qualified to hold political office in the FCT and at the National level.

We reject in strong terms the popular saying “Monkey dey Work, Baboon dey Chop” This time Monkey Work, Monkey must Chop.

Comrade Abdulwahab Ekekhide said that the implication of not appointing FCT APC members was a call to lose in subsequent elections in the FCT.
