A 6-classroom block has collapsed in Cross River State, leaving students with no place to study.
CONVERSEER gathered that the collapsed 6-classroom block belongs to Community Secondary School, Bumaji, Boki Local Government Area – in the central part of the state.
According to a reliable source, the incident happened on Monday, February 6, 2023, at about 4. p.m when the students were having evening games.
The source said, “when the incident occurred, no student or staff was affected. However, the students were having evening games outside when the building collapsed.
“We, the people of the community are calling on the government and well-meaning Cross Riverians for urgent intervention, to avoid students studying under the trees”.

The cause of the collapsed building is yet to be ascertained but our Reported learned that the classroom block was built by Hon. Cletus Obun, a former member of the State House Of Assembly in early 2000 with support from the government.
At the time of this report, Mr Abraham Ashike, Principal of the school could not be reached due to mobile network issues.
Meanwhile, Mr Castro Ezama, Special Adviser on Education to Governor Ben Ayade of the State said the incident was unfortunate, adding that SUBEB and UBEC will soon mobilise contractors to rehabilitate the school.
