For allegedly assaulting a trader and damaging his goods worth N130,000, a 60-year-old man, Nedjiakoua Cossou, has appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The defendant is standing trial before Magistrate L.J.K. Layeni on a two-count charge of assault and wilful damage to property.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 25, at Babalola Bus Stop in Ilogbo area of Ojo.
He alleged that an argument between the defendant and the complainant, Mr Kingsley Ogbembi, resulted in a quarrel, and the defendant punched him on the chest severally.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant also damaged 15 Tecno phones belonging to the complainant.
He said that the goods worth N130,000.
The alleged offences contravene Sections 173 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
It adjourned the case until March 1 for trial. (NAN)
