UNICROSS Alumni President opens up on suspension of VC

The President of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni, Dr Inyali Peter, has released a statement regarding the suspension of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Augustine Angba.

CONVERSEER reports that Prof. Angba was suspended on Monday by the University’s Governing Council for alleged gross misconduct.

In a statement signed by him on Monday, the Alumni President, who is also a member of the Governing Council, said the information available to him about the suspension of Angba is still sketchy.

Inyali who said he was inundated with calls, stressed that the National Executive Council (NEC) will consider the situation and issue a comprehensive reaction.

“Since the news of the suspension of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State broke, I have been inundated with calls and texts from journalists and other stakeholders seeking my reaction.

“However, I want to state that the information available to me and the National Executive Council (NEC) at this time is still sketchy and incomplete as I was not at today’s emergency governing council meeting.

“As the President of the UniCross Alumni Association, I want to assure our members and the public that the NEC will carefully consider the situation and issue a comprehensive reaction at the appropriate time.

“We will not rush to judgment or speculation. We will ensure that our response is informed and in the best interest of our beloved University,” the statement read.

CONVERSEER also reported that Prof. Angba handed over to Prof. Stephen Oshang from the Faculty of Agriculture.
