On Wednesday, 18th of October, 2023 the Governor of Cross River State, HE Sen Prince Bassey Edet Otu was celebrated in a special way, thanks to Dr Prince Michael Abuo JP who is a Senior Special Adviser to the Governor, the State Coordinator for African Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Africa Development (AUDA NEPAD) and also the Director General of the largest Political Organisation in Nigeria, Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON).
Birthdays are special occasions that allow us to honour and appreciate individuals who have made significant contributions to our lives.
Exciting activities that took place during this memorable celebration, included a birthday party, a novelty football match and a visit to an orphanage home.
The celebration kicked off with a Novelty Football Match between the Obudu/Bekwara/Obanliku Federal Constituency and the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency as a way to engage the community and showcase the spirit of sportsmanship. The facilitator, Dr Abuo known for his love for sports, commended the players and gave out financial support. The friendly competition not only provided an opportunity for the indigenous footballers to display their athletic skills but also served as a platform for community bonding and unity.
In addition to the Novelty Football Match, a grand birthday party was held at the prestigious Gomara Hotel, Ogoja, Cross River State, Nigeria. Distinguished guests from various sectors of the society, including government officials, community leaders, friends and lovers of the Governor, gathered to commemorate the special day. The event was marked by a festive atmosphere, filled with laughter, music and heartfelt conversations, as attendees celebrated the governor’s leadership and accomplishments thus far.

During the visit to the Divine Province Orphanage Home in Ogoja, Cross River State, Nigeria, Dr Abuo emphasised the Governor’s commitment to social welfare and compassion for the less fortunate. He spent quality time with the children, engaging in various activities such as games, storytelling, and sharing meals. The visit brought smiles to the faces of the children and served as a reminder of the governor’s dedication to creating a better future for all.
The celebration also included various charitable initiatives aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of the less privileged. Donations of essential items, such as food, clothing and educational materials were made to the orphanage and other deserving causes within the community. These acts of kindness exemplified the governor’s commitment to social responsibility and his desire to uplift the needy.
