Awka, Nigeria – An activist and National Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project (RNP), Comrade Osita Obi, has issued a 14-day ultimatum to Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (popularly known as Ebube Muonso), the Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State.
Obi has demanded the clergyman apologise to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo over alleged public criticisms regarding insecurity in the state.
The ultimatum follows a media clash between the governor and Rev. Fr. Obimma, which began after the clergyman, during a sermon, called on Soludo to address the worsening security challenges or resign.
Comrade Obi, addressing journalists in Awka, described the situation as unfortunate, urging the priest to support the governor’s efforts instead of engaging in public criticism.
“No governor since the return of democracy in 1999 has achieved what Soludo has accomplished across the 179 communities of Anambra State within two years and nine months in office,” Obi stated.
The activist emphasised that insecurity requires collective efforts, calling on Rev. Fr. Obimma to engage the governor directly rather than escalate tensions through media channels.
“If Fr. Obimma believes he can address the situation better, he should leave the pulpit and join politics like his counterpart in Benue State,” Obi remarked, threatening to lead a protest to the church if the priest fails to apologise.
Comrade Obi also appealed to residents to support the governor’s vision of making Anambra peaceful, secure, and prosperous while assuring that the government’s efforts would soon yield results.
