Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Chief of Staff to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, has applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for early commencement of voting on Saturday.

Ezeajughi made the commendation after casting his vote at Osikwu Primary School, Ward 11, Awgbu, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) also commended the people of Anambra for their peaceful conduct.

Ezeajughi said he was impressed with the level of turn out and lauded the people for their peaceful conduct.

“Let me give credit to INEC because today we actually started voting by 8.30 a.m. and things have been going well in my polling unit.

“The accreditation process was fast and smooth and the environment is peaceful, so far, there is a large turnout of voters and many people are still on their way.

“The accreditation process was fast and smooth and the environment is peaceful,” he said.

Ezeajughi said the election was generally peaceful adding that it was a testimony of the efforts of the Soludo-led administration in the area of security.

“Within our one year in office, we have achieved improved security, and that is what the government has been doing.

“Interestingly, there is no security presence but people are comfortably and confidently coming out to vote,” he said.

On her part, Chief (Mrs) Genevieve Ekwochi, a voter at Polling Unit 003 Ichida Ward 11 in Anaocha Local Government Area, said that turnout was low in her area.

Ekwochi said the election process should be improved with the cooperation of the political elites to encourage citizen participation.

She said though the process was peaceful in the area, there was obvious apathy due to disenchantment.(NAN)
