Appeal Court reaffirms Attah Ochinke as PDP Candidate for Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency

Former Commissioner for Justice in Cross River State, Barr. Attah Ochinke has been reaffirmed as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate for the 2023 Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency election.

Ochinke was reaffirmed by the Court of Appeal, Calabar Division, who upturned the decision of the Federal High Court, Calabar.

Recall that the Federal High Court cancelled the May 23, 2022, primaries that elected Ochinke and ordered a rerun where Mr Abang Pius later emerged as the candidate of the PDP for the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency.

The rerun was conducted pending Ochinke’s appeal against the High Court judgment.

However, on Friday, October 21, 2022, the Appeal Court Sitting in Calabar upturned the decision of the Federal High Court, Calabar, and affirmed Attah Ochinke as the candidate of the PDP in the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency.

Reacting, one of Ochinke’s counsel, First Baba Isa said he’d told Ochinke that he is going to get victory via the Appeal Court.

Is a said: “When we sat in his office in Calabar to review that Federal High Court decision, I told him categorically and prophetically, that the Court of Appeal will reverse that decision. With respect, that decision of the Federal High Court was wrong and utterly misdirected”.
