A free medical outreach has been organised for Cross Riverians to avail themselves of the opportunity of getting diagnosed and treated in honour of the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and members of the Presidential Campaign Council.
The medical outreach was done at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, this week where Atiku held his presidential campaign rally in Cross River State.
Activities of the outreach include, breast and cervical cancer screening which was done in a private setup with over one thousand women benefitting, high blood pressure (HBP) check, blood sugar test, hepatitis screening, HIV screening, malaria and typhoid testing and treatments, general routine checks, family planning was also administered to some of the women who requested for it.
Ambulances were also on the ground for the examination and emergency referral.
Speaking on the success of the medical outreach to our correspondent was the Deputy Director-General, Women Presidential Campaign Council, Tari Oliver who noted that the Presidential Candidate is a man who feels empathy for the masses, hence the kind gesture.
“This initiative was from His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar because, in the past two weeks, Nigerians have been in a devastating mood, there are no funds anywhere, people cannot even afford medical care and we have been getting these reports, and His Excellency thought of this to bring succour to the masses”, she said.
Tari further stated that for cases with high blood pressure and diabetes, some of the beneficiaries were given a month’s duration of medication and thereafter referred for a follow-up visit at the tertiary institution.

She also noted that efforts were made to educate voters on the need to vote for the PDP as well as grass root sensitisation on the use of BVAS and other aspects of the electoral bill.
According to her, “training of ward women leaders, agents and canvassers in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States was also in line as women were equipped with hands-on information on how to prevent rigging and violence within their polling units”.
“I am assuring the women that eventually when His Excellency Atiku Abubakar assumes office, life will be better, and there will be job opportunities for every Nigerian woman as he has earmarked 10 billion dollars for women’s entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and girl child education”.

The women were excited and promised to go into every nook and cranny of their communities to canvas for Atiku\Okowa victory as well as pledged to come out en masse to vote for the PDP come February 25th 2023.
