Awoniyi: Nottingham Forest Targets Wissa as Possible Replacement for Nigerian Striker

Nottingham Forest are reportedly eyeing striker Yoanne Wissa from Brentford as a potential replacement for Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi, who is linked with a move to West Ham.

Awoniyi’s future at Forest has been uncertain since losing his starting spot to New Zealand’s Chris Wood.

Injuries have hindered the 27-year-old striker’s progress since joining the club three seasons ago, and his lack of regular game time has paved the way for Wood to take over his position.

So far this season, Awoniyi has made just 16 Premier League appearances, with only two starts. However, he did score his first goal of the season in a 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month.

With limited minutes on the pitch, rumors of a January departure for Awoniyi have intensified, with Premier League club West Ham reportedly interested in signing him.

According to Forest Transfer Hub, the club is targeting Brentford’s Yoanne Wissa, who has impressed with 11 goals and two assists in the Premier League this season.

The club showed interest last summer for Wissa, but Brentford were firm in rejecting any offers. However, with Forest’s strong form this season, Wissa might be more inclined to consider a move this time around.

The potential transfer hinges on Awoniyi’s decision. If he stays at Forest and his game time increases, the club may no longer pursue Wissa.

However, if Awoniyi continues to struggle for minutes, a move away from the City Ground could become more likely.
