Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has lifted the ban on the promotion of civil and public servants in the State.
This was made known in a memo signed by Timothy Akwaji, Head of Service (HoS) on April 25, 2023, and made available to CONVERSEER on April 30, 2023.
According to the memo, the lifting of the ban is from 2016 to 2023.
The development, according to the memo will enhance productivity in the State’s civil and public service.

“His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, has approved the lifting of embargo on promotions for Civil and Public servants in the state.
“Consequently, the embargo on promotions in the state has been lifted from 2016 to 2023.
“This approval is with immediate effect.
“It is anticipated that this gesture will spur staff to enhance productivity in the state civil/public service”, the memo read in part.
It added, “MDAs responsible for staff promotions are hereby enjoined to comply with the content of this circular forthwith”.
