Bassey Akiba of the Labour Party (LP) has emerged as the winner of the Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency election that took place on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
He was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Monday at the Collation Centre in Calabar Municipal.
Hon. Bassey Akiba polled a total of 23,759 votes to emerge the winner of Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency.
His closest rival, Edim Inok of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled a total of 21,616 votes to come second, while the incumbent Rt. Hon. Etta Mbora of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 19,584 votes.
Akiba is one of the few candidates that dispose the seating National Assembly Members in the year’s election. He will represent his people for the next 4 years in the Green Chambers.

Hon. Bassey Akiba, former Chairman of Odukpani Local Government Area had represented the Odukpani State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly under the PDP.
