Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River, Sen. Sandy Onor, has decried pockets of violence in parts of the state in the on-going governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The candidate expressed his misgivings after casting his vote at Akpor Town Hall polling unit 06 at Nsofan in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River.
Onor said opposition parties were never prepared for the election and had resorted to violence in parts of the state.
“I can only urge people of Cross River to remain calm, cast, and protect the votes until the final collation is done and results announced,’’ he stated.
He also expressed regret at the burning of some PDP vehicles at Odukpani in the state on Thursday.

He said that the burnt vehicles were conveying party supporters when they were ambushed at Odukpani.
“These people complained that they had no fund to transport themselves to their polling centres in their various communities and we decided to help out.
“They were ambushed and shot at and a woman sustained gunshot injuries,’’ Onor said.
The burnt vehicles were four Toyota Hiace buses and three Sports Utility Vehicles. (NAN)
