Sunday Jacob, a 29-year-old welder, was charged on Thursday in a Mararaba Upper Area Court in Nasarawa State with stealing a woman’s phone and N80,000.
The defendant, a resident of Sharp Corner, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, is accused of extortion and criminal trespass.
The complainant, Favour Akola of Kabayi, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, reported the incident at the Division “A” Police Station, Mararaba, on October 10, according to the prosecution’s attorney, Insp. Hamen Donald.
According to Donald, the complainant said that on October 5, the defendant broke into her room and stole her Infinix phone and N80,000 in cash.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the crime.
The judge, Mohammed Jibril granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200, 000 and one surety in like sum.
Jibril adjourned the case until Nov. 7 for hearing
