Two communities in Obubra Local Government Area in Central Cross River State have engaged in a fight, leaving motorists, neighbouring communities and the state in fear.
CONVERSEER gathered that the two communities involved in the crisis are Ovonum and Ofatura in Obubra.
The crisis erupted on Friday (May 5) and has consumed properties worth millions of Naira.
A video obtained by CONVERSEER shows that the crisis may need the military to curtail.
However, the state governor, Senator Ben Ayade, after being notified of the incident ordered a 12-hour curfew, starting from 6:00pm to 6:00am till further notice.
In a statement signed by Barrister Christian Ita, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity on Friday, Ayade also ordered security to ensure strict enforcement of the curfew.

“Following the ongoing communal clashes between Ovonum and Ofatura communities in Obubra Local Government Area, the state governor, His Excellency, Prof Ben Ayade has imposed a 6pm-6am curfew on both communities with immediate effect.
“His Excellency, the Governor hereby directs security agencies in the state to ensure the strict enforcement of the curfew.
“The governor decries the destruction of lives and properties in the renewed clashes, and vows that government will bring to book, all those behind the clashes”, the statement read.
