CALABAR – Cross River State has introduced a new but flamboyant event tagged ‘Carnival Parade of Thanksgiving and Festival of Praise’ which brought the state capital, Calabar, to a standstill.

The maiden event was flagged off by the State Governor, Apostle (Senator) Bassey Otu, on Easter Monday (21 April 2025), with thousands flooding the streets with a highly spiritual parade.

Alongside his, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu, Governor Otu brought the state to a surprise with a celebration covered in spirituality.

The event was attended by various clerics in the state and featured prayers at strategic places including the popular Watt Market Roundabout.

At the time of the report, Cross Riverians are calling the event “Jesus Carnival.”
