Dep. Gov. Odey Pledges Support for De-Caucus

CALABAR – The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, has pledged to support De-Caucus, a socio-political group committed to building future leaders.

Odey was nominated as Patron of the group.

Receiving the De-Caucus at the Glass Office in Calabar on Tuesday, the Deputy was shocked by the capacity of the members of the group.

Odey who accepted to be Patron and was issued a certification, noted that his office is ready to work with the group made up of youths to create a better tomorrow.

He further admonished them to toe the path of development rather than destruction, assuring them of his involvement and commitment to fostering youth participation in governance.

In his remark, the Convener of De-Caucus, Comrade Dan Obo, disclosed that the Deputy Governor is one amongst the few persons chosen to become the Patron of the group.

Obo, who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Youths Mobilisation while presenting the certificate to Odey, also presented the group’s mandate, which is to: mobilise for the re-election of Governor Otu and President Bola Tinubu come 2027.

He said there is a lot the current administration is doing, and De-Caucus has come to give it a face it deserved.

In their separate remarks, Media Personality and Brand Consultant Awade Friday, and Academic Scholar Prince Agbor Onyi (PhD), who are also members of De-Caucus, emphasised the crucial role young people play in driving political awareness and supporting the existing government for effective governance.

They highlighted the need to mobilise youth to embrace good politics and contribute to societal development.

They said De-Caucus aims to address key issues surrounding leadership and information dissemination in Cross River State with a commitment to grooming young people to become effective leaders.

Converseer reports that the Grand Patron was earlier accorded to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh.
