DFB Fined Clubs €12.5m in 2024, Most Income Goes to Foundations

Frankfurt, Germany – The German Football Federation (DFB) has fined clubs in the top three division around €12.5 million ($13 million) for offences at matches in 2024, with Eintracht Frankfurt alone having to pay nearly €1 million.

The DFB said that most offences concerned the lighting of pyrotechnics which is forbidden in stadiums.

Frankfurt lead the 56 clubs with €918,950, followed by relegated Cologne (€725,750) and second tier Kaiserslautern (€673,100)

The DFB eventually received around €8 million through the fines because clubs can use some of the money for violence prevention measuress of their own.

The DFB uses most of this income for charitable purposes, with €6 million going to football-related foundations in 2024, a rise of more than €1 million.

“I am very pleased that we are securing and facilitating the important work of the foundations for the future through this,” DFB treasurer Stephan Grunwald said.
