CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Medical Director of Omega Hospital, Boki, Dr Godwin Agbor (KSM), has been honoured with Excellent Service to Humanity award.
The award of honour in recognition of his philanthropic and humanitarian services was presented by Mrs Blessing Alims-Ojisor-led University of Calabar Students Union Government (UNICAL SUG) on 20th June, in Calabar.
He was recognised alongside other distinguished personalities in different fields of life, including Dr (Mrs) Virginia Ironbar (Director of Pre-Degree), wife of Hon. Emmanel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to Governor Bassey Otu.

Presenting the award, Mrs Alims-Ojisor said Dr Agbor has distinguished himself in his field and has been a supporter of the SUG.
Dr Agbor, the current Chairman of the Obudu LGA Anti-Quackery Committee, dedicated the award to his family and well-wishers who have been supporting him and praying for continuous God’s grace.
“I am happy to receive this award of honour presented to me by Mrs Blessing Alims Ojisor-led UNICAL SUG. I dedicate this award to my family and well-wishers,” he stated while receiving the award.
He also acknowledged the organisers and made a monetary donation.

Converseer reports that Dr Agbor is also the former All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for Obudu State Constituency in the 2020 Cross River State House of Assembly By-election, Supervisor of APC Membership Registration in 2021, APC Aspirant for Obudu State Constituency in 2023 as well as the party stakeholder in Utugwang South Ward, Obudu LGA.
The theme of the UNICAL SUG Award was “Leadership That Inspires; Celebrating Trailblazers’ Impact.”
Speaking on the theme, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Florence Obi, lauded the Alims-Ojisor-led presidency for being trailblazers.

“As a trailblazer, you have to do things your own way. Blessing has made this in her own way and I commend her,” Prof. Obi said, tasking the incoming SUG to emulate the outgoing president and even do more.
Earlier in her remark, Alims-Ojisor, the first female and outgoing UNICAL SUG President, said, “Today is not just an award ceremony, it’s a celebration of trailblazers. It marks the end of my tenure as the first female president of UNICAL.
“Leadership is not about titles, it’s the footprint we leave on the sand,” she said while thanking the VC, management, students and stakeholders for their unwavering support throughout her one-year reign.
