EFCC Arrests Akpabio, 8 Others In Uyo

The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, arrested one Enomfon Jackson Akpabio and 8 others over alleged internet fraud, also referred to as Yahoo-Yahoo.

Those arrested alongside Akpabio are Victor Etiowo, George Vincent, Daniel Joshua, Lambert Joshua, Johnny Jimmy, Elijah Asuquo Ekwere, Amos Cosmos, and Otobong Emmanuel.

CONVERSEER gathered that the 9 suspects were arrested around Itam Police Station Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.

According to a statement from the EFCC, “They were arrested following actionable intelligence concerning their alleged online criminal activities at the said location.

“Items recovered from them include different brands of mobile phones”.

The suspects

The Commission added that “the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigations are concluded”.
