Accreditations and voting began in Somolu Constituency 1 and 2 amidst low turn-out of electorate at the Presidential and National Assembly election.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondents who monitored the situation on Saturday in the areas report that accreditations and voting began by 8.50 a.m. and 9.00 a.m respectively in some polling units in Somolu.
NAN also reports that some polling units were yet to begin the process due to delays in arrival of materials.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials were sited at Ward 5, unit 035, 036, 027, 034, 025 and 040 respectively in The constituency.
Accreditation did not begin as at 9.10 a.m. in Pedro Primary School which has about 60 polling units.
NAN also reported that some food vendors made brisk sales while some youths were also seen playing football on most major road in the area.
Mrs Showunmi Adeyemi, the Electoral Officer, Somolu, told NAN that the commission was fully ready to commence the electioneering.
Adeyemi said, ”All lNEC personnel has gone to their respective polling units with materials.
”We have 12 wards with 616 polling units in Somolu Constituency 1&2.”
CSP Oduntana Daniel, the DPO, Pedro Police Station, told NAN that the situation was calm as police personnel had been despatched to various locations to maintain law and order.
NAN report that the presence of security agents was also observed at every point in Somolu Constituency 1 and 2.
