The remains of the late Emir of Dutse, Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi were laid to rest on Wednesday amid tears at a public cemetery in Dutse.

The burial of the First Class Emir at a public cemetery was done in accordance to his will as against the royal cemetery.

The Chief Imam of Dutse Central Mosque, Dr Sani Birnin Kudu, who led the funeral prayer, prayed the Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that about 50 emirs and other top government functionaries attended the funeral prayer.

Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, led the Federal Government delegation, while Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and former governors of Jigawa, Saminu Turaki and Sule Lamido attended the prayer.

Also in attendance were the Vice Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima, captains of industries, entrepreneurs, religious leaders and hundreds of residents of the state.

Sunusi died on Tuesday after a brief illness at the age of 79.

Born on Dec. 27, 1944, Sunusi was installed the 3rd Emir of Dutse in 1995, after the demise of his father, Muhammadu Sunusi. (NAN)
