Esu Commends Obudu German Hospital for Nursing Training

Obudu, Cross River – The Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Nursing, Coco-Bassey Esu, has lauded the Obudu German Hospital for its technological contributions to the training of nursing students.

During a facility tour, Esu underscored the importance of collaboration between the College of Nursing, Obudu, and the hospital in advancing nursing education and healthcare delivery.

The Obudu German Hospital, approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), serves as one of the primary training centres for nursing students in the state.

Esu praised the hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities, noting their pivotal role in equipping nurses with the skills needed for quality patient care and safety.

He further revealed that Governor Bassey Otu had lifted the employment ban on nurses, allowing the deployment of additional personnel to enhance training and research.

“Stakeholders must work collaboratively to foster harmony among nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals for the benefit of nursing students and the Cross Riverian community,” he said.

The Chief Medical Director of the Obudu German Hospital and a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Iyke Osinachi, expressed gratitude for the visit, stating, “We are committed to ensuring the best training for students by partnering with the college. Our seminars and workshops aim to improve patient care, and we are open to collaborative efforts, particularly in nursing.”

Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Obudu, Dr Victoria Undeshi, highlighted plans for a step-down program focused on modern nursing care practices.

She emphasised the importance of the partnership with the hospital in producing highly skilled nurses and strengthening institutional ties.

This collaboration is expected to enhance the quality of nursing education and healthcare services across Cross River State, benefiting both students and the wider community.
