People who voted in the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for living up to their promise to conduct credible, free and fair elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the voters on Sunday commended the security agencies for providing adequate security during the election.
Mrs Roseline Derabiu, 47-year-old, who voted at polling unit 081, SS Quarters, Jikwoyi, FCT, described the voting process as peaceful, smooth and devoid of any security breach.
She said that the voting commenced around 8:48a.m and concluded at 8:20 p.m., and people turned out to exercise their franchise.
According to her, “I really commend both the security agencies and INEC officials for ensuring that the election is smooth and peaceful.”
Mr Ugochukwu Nwandu, 51, and a resident of Jikwoyi, who voted at polling unit 105, Unity Guest House, Agwangede, FCT, thanked the security agents for supporting the INEC officials to ensure that the election was peaceful.
“Voting commenced around 9:a.m and ended around 4:45 pm, it was quite a nice one.”
Also, at Jikwoyi Guest House, unit 018, Mr Stanley Udoh, also commended the officials for ensuring that the election was free and fair in the area.
Udoh said that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), functioned perfectly without any issue and the security situation was very calm and peaceful.
According to him, INEC officials arrived at the polling unit a little late and the materials were not complete, some of us became discouraged but the officials assured us that they will bring the complete materials before the end of the exercise.
“We did not really believe them, but thank God before the end of the exercise the materials were brought to the unit and everybody voted peacefully.
“I want to commend INEC for making the exercise free, transparent and credible and we believe that the outcome will be accepted by the candidates,” he said. (NAN)
