Abuja, Nigeria – Judges of Nigeria’s Federal High Court will commence their 2024 Christmas vacation on Monday, December 16, 2024.
This annual recess, as confirmed by Chief Judge Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, is scheduled to conclude with the judges’ return on Monday, January 6, 2025, while regular court activities are set to resume on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in all judicial divisions nationwide.
Per Order 46, Rule 4(C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended), selected divisions in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt will remain operational to handle essential cases during the break.
Cases accepted by the vacation judges will be limited to fundamental rights enforcement, matters of national interest, and vessel-related issues.
In Abuja, Justices Emeka Nwite and M. S. Liman will preside over cases. Lagos division will have Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac Dipeolu, while Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed will be in charge in Port Harcourt.
