The Eastern Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy, Calabar, has decorated three personnel of the command from the rank of Master Warrant Officers to Naval Warrant Officers.
Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Eastern Naval Command, Rear Adm. Olusola Oluwagbire, decorated the promoted officers at the headquarters of the command in Calabar.
The promoted personnel are; America Ziakede, Thaddeus Ebirim and Gotep Gofor.
While congratulating them for their feat, the FOC urged them to see their new ranks as a call for more service and dedication to the Nigerian Navy.
“We want to thank God for how far he has kept you all because there are many people in your course who didn’t make it up to the rank of Naval Warrant Officer.
“First, I want you all to see this promotion as a grace of God upon you. Promotion comes with more responsibility, so, we expect you to strive to be at your best.
“We also expect you to provide direction to those under you. As a command, we wish you the best of health to carry on with your assigned task,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Ebirim, said they were grateful to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Awwal Gambo, for finding them worthy of the promotion.
He also commended the effort and input of senior officers of the Navy who had contributed in growing their career to this level.

According to him, the promotion has clearly affirmed the Navy’s efforts in making them better sailors.
“It is indeed heart-warming to us today, having reached the peak of our career as ratings of Nigerian Navy, promoted and decorated with the prestigious rank of the Navy Warrant Officers.
“Promotion is a gesture that clearly shows that one is appreciated by his employer, it spurs the beneficiaries to put in more efforts and also endear others to do their best.
“On our parts sir, we acknowledge that to whom much is given, much is expected.
“We hereby, reaffirm our commitment to deploy all our time and vigour to serve the Navy better in this new capacity in our various appointment,” he said.
Ebirim promised that the officers would continue to mentor their subordinates positively, to groom discipline and reliable workforce that would fill in the gap in the service. (NAN)
