An NGO, Ibidapo Foundation, on Friday, supported no fewer than 500 indigent students of Rochas Foundation, Sokoto, with assorted food items and learning materials.
Distributing the items, Founder of the foundation, Mr Lawal Ibidapo, said that the gesture was to encourage the good initiative of the school proprietor in promoting the living standard of children of the less-privileged across the country.
“This is an initiative with the sole aim of supporting the indigent children to have access to quality education and provide comfort for children of the less-privileged in all parts of the country.
“Today’s gesture is part of our efforts at showing love to those children identified by Sen. Rochas Okorocha,’’ he said.
Ibidapo promised that the foundation would sustain the gesture and continue to identify other areas to support the less-privilege in the society.
In his remarks, the college Principal, Mr Michael Shilong, appreciated the founder of the foundation for the support, saying that it would further aid teaching and learning in the school.
“The development will surely compliment the efforts put in place by Okorocha for free education to indigent children, not only in Sokoto but across the country,’’ he said.
Shilong further called on other kind-hearted individuals and organisations to emulate the foundation’s initiative by sponsoring the education of more indigent children.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the items donated to the school include: noodles, biscuits, notebooks and writing materials, among others.
NAN also reports that highlights of the event were debate, presentation of spoken words of love, drama and cultural performance by the pupils.(NAN)
