Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for providing help to thousands displaced in over 300 communities in the state.
Diri made the pronouncement on Monday, as the state distributes relief materials to affected victims.
He said: “Thank you, Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari, for your swift response to the alarm I raised over the devastating nature of the 2022 ravaging flood.
“Thank you for taking this case as a national emergency as I requested, for us to provide succour to thousands of affected persons in more than 300 communities across six LGAs in Bayelsa State”.

He said his administration will do everything within its power to avoid more losses. “Whilst we distribute relief materials and medical outreach to victims of the flood, we continue to avoid further loss of lives”.
Diri further “assure all the federal agencies handling rescue and disaster management of our full co-operation when they arrive for this national intervention”.
Nigeria is faced with one of the toughest tasks as floods continue to ravage many states in the coastal areas of the country.
