Gunmen Abduct Kano Businessman’s Daughter Despite ₦8M Ransom Payment

KABO – Unknown gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, invaded the residence of a prominent businessman in Garo town, Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting his eldest daughter, Zainab, after reportedly collecting ₦8 million from the family.

An anonymous source revealed that the attackers broke into the house by force, creating an atmosphere of fear and panic among the family members.

Armed Attack

“Three of them were armed with guns, while the remaining seven carried other weapons,” the source said. “They gathered the entire family in one place, and the head of the family pleaded with them to spare his family, offering to meet their demands for safety.”

The gunmen demanded money, and ₦8 million was handed over to them. However, despite receiving the cash, the assailants abducted Zainab, a secondary school graduate, before fleeing the scene.

Kidnapper’s Silence

The whereabouts of the abducted girl remains unknown, as the kidnappers are yet to make further contact with the family.

Recent Killings Fuel Fear

This incident occurred just 48 hours after a former Gombe State Permanent Secretary and ex-Chairman of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Atiku Mu’azu, was abducted and killed at his Janbulo residence in Kano. The assailants reportedly collected ₦10 million before taking his life.

These back-to-back incidents have left residents in shock and heightened fears across the state.

Police Response

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, for comments, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls made to his phone.

Authorities are yet to provide an official statement regarding the incident.
