An Assistant Superintendent of Nigeria Immigration Service, ASI Imojara Godwin Imojara has been kidnapped along the Biase axis of the Calabar-Ogoja Highway, Cross River State.
CONVERSEER gathered that Imojara who was posted for election duty was kidnapped alongside three others on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at about 3:30pm (WAT).
According to a reliable source, the four were travelling in a Toyota Corolla vehicle when the kidnappers attacked and whisked them away.
The source said the kidnappers are demanding the sum of 50 million naira before they will release the Immigration Officer.
“An Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI) Imojara Godwin Imojara was kidnapped at Biase while on his way to Ogoja from Calabar yesterday. He left Calabar at about 3:14pm and was kidnapped at about 3:30pm.
“He was going for special duty – election duty. They were four of them, travelling in a 2011/12 Toyota Corolla.
“The first call the kidnappers put across was around 7:28pm in the evening. They demanded for money – the sum of 50 million naira before they will release him”, the source told CONVERSEER.
Confirming the news to CONVERSEER in a telephone call on Friday morning, SP Irene Ugbo, spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Cross River State said they are working tirelessly to ensure the release of the victims.

“I got a call concerning the abduction. He is not the only one, other persons were involved. We are on it.
“The CP Election has directed that drastic action should be taken. It is being worked on. Let us hope and pray that before tomorrow (Saturday), everything will be fine”, Ugbo said.
CONVERSEER reports that several persons have been kidnapped along that part of the state, including a Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Police officer, medical doctor and very recently, a governorship candidate for the March 18 election, Pastor Usani Usani escaped abduction while a couple of persons in his convoy were killed.
