Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has stated that he has sponsored several elections in Cross River State, a neighbouring South-South state.
Wike stated this on Friday in Port Harcourt in a live media chat televised on Channels TV, NTA, TVC News and others.
Recall that the PDP governor has come under serious scrutiny over his influence in other states’ politics – and the recent which is Cross River State.
CONVERSEER learned that Wike’s influence chased away Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State from the PDP to the APC and also humiliated him during the Cross River Northern Senatorial District by-election.
Now, it has been alleged that the Oil-rich state governor is behind the PDP Governorship Candidate in Cross River State for the 2023 general election in the person of Sen. Sandy Onor.

Clearing the airways, Wike told journalists in Port Harcourt on Thursday that “I’ve supported Cross River State during several elections. I’ve supported Edo State, I’ve also supported Imo State and other states.
“You see, Cross River came to me and I also supported in the primaries – if you want to run for election in the party and you ask me for support, I’ll support you.
“People will always read meaning to things – should we not be happy?”.
When asked why meddling with the politics of other states, Wike said, “I am not from that state, I am only supporting a party.
“The last by-election that was held in Cross River State, ask Liyel Imoke, I supported it because of the party”.
The 2023 PDP Presidential aspirant also fumed at the Federal Government’s inability to dredge the Calabar river for ships to berth. “River Niger should be dredged, River Benue too, should be dredged in order to improve the economic activities of the nation. Calabar river should also be dredged. We can not continue to play politics while our people and the nation suffer”, he said.
