KNSG demands apology from Sahara Reporters, threatens legal action

Kano State Government has demanded apology from an online medium, Sahara Reporters, for allegedly mentioning Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje among three governors accused of stashing public funds.

This is contained in a statement, signed by Mr Muhammed Garba, the Commissioner for Information, Youths and Sports, and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

The statement alleged that the online media reported that Gov. Ganduje was among three governors accused of financial crime by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Garba, in the statement, threatened to take legal action against the publishers, if they failed to retract the story and apologise to the government.

The statement condemned the report, saying it lacked substance of an investigative story, claiming that it was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the governor and the state.

Kano State, it said, was amongst the few states of the Federation that consistently paid its workers’ salary as and when due.

“Gov. Ganduje has not acquired any billions of naira, stashed away any fund that could be used for workers’ salary in an era of e-banking services,” the statement said. (NAN)
