Shortly after announcing her intentions to resign as United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister, Mary Elizabeth Truss, preferably referred to as Liz Truss has listed her achievements as British PM.
The 47-year-old who took over from Boris Johnson on September 6, 2022, said she will continue to serve until a successor is chosen “within the next week”.
Truss who previously served as Foreign Secretary from 2021 to 2022, also announced her resignation as leader of the Conservative Party (CP) on the same day.
The former Member of Parliament (MP) for South West Norfolk listed her achievements to include energy bills, national insurance, security, and economic growth amongst others.
“We delivered on energy bills and on cutting national insurance.
“We have continued to stand with Ukraine and to protect our own security.
“And we set out a vision for a low tax, high growth economy – that would take advantage of the freedoms of Brexit.
“I recognise however that, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party.
“I have therefore spoken to His Majesty The King to notify him that I am resigning as Leader of the Conservative Party.
“There will be a leadership election to be completed in the next week.
“This will ensure we remain on a path to deliver our fiscal plans and maintain our country’s economic stability and national security.
“I will remain as Prime Minister until a successor has been chosen”, Truss wrote on her official verified Facebook page.
