An Ota Magistrates ‘Court in Ogun, on Monday, sentenced a 38-year-old man, Iruka Onyeckachi to three months imprisonment for stealing N90,000 cash and a bag belonging to a woman.
The Police charged Onyeckachi, whose address was not provided with stealing, which he had pleaded guilty to.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs A.O.Adeyemi, sentenced the convict to three months imprisonment and an option of N2, 000 fine.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the convict committed the offence on Dec.24, 2022 at about 8.00 a.m.at Aro 1 Cashier, Aparadija,Itele-Awori,Ota.
Adaraloye said the defendant stole the money from the bag of the complainant, Promise Nneomo, before he was apprehended by a good Samaritan and handed over to the police.
He said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Vol.1, Law of Ogun, 2006.(NAN)
