The Bishop of Methodist Church, Diocese Of Atamunu, otherwise known as Cathedral of Favour, Rt. Rev. Barr. Otuekong Ukut PhD has donated educational materials worth millions of naira to two primary and post-primary Schools in Cross River State.
He said it was an avenue to make his contribution towards national development in Nigeria.
CONVERSEER gathered that the educational materials include books and several learning materials for primary and post-primary school Pupils/Students of Methodist Church School, Ikot Omin, 8 Miles and Secondary School Students of Susana Wesley School, 97 Atamunu Streets, all in Calabar, the State capital.
Speaking earlier on Tuesday (May 16) in Calabar, while distributing the learning and teaching materials to the Pupils and Students of Ikot Omin Methodist Church at 8 Miles and Students of Diocese Of Atamunu Methodist Church, the clergyman charged the beneficiaries to double their efforts in order to graduate from with flying colours.

His words: “I see great potential among you people. I see a lot of you who are going to grow up to become engineers, lawyers, doctors, and computer engineers.
“I see civil engineers among you. I also see a future. I charged you all to be serious with your academic work, desist forth from telling lies, and obey your parents and teachers if you want your dreams to be actualised.
“Tell your friends to enrol in Susana Wesley Schools. I charged you to be hardworking so that you can aspire to have 8 degrees just like I have.
“Let me make it clear to you that if you work very hard, with good moral behaviour, and you work to attain higher educational standards, all those good things of life which you so desire are achievable”.
In his response on behalf of the two benefiting schools, the Head Teacher of Methodist School, Ikot Omin, 8 Miles, Miss Emem Johnson, who spoke in the company of the school pupil and students, expressed happiness over the educational materials donated by Bishop Otuekong, praying God to keep him alive.

She said: “This is something spectacular. We have seen this before where the bishop would take a great time from his very busy schedule to pay us a visit and check on us with gift items that tend to make our job easy.
“We are indeed so grateful and excited and proud to be associated with this clergyman. You are indeed a caring father.
“For showing us this token of love and concern, we pledged to reciprocate this kind gesture by re-doubling our effort for optimum results”.
In his remarks, Synod Secretary, Very Rev. Anthony Essien, stated that with the learning and teaching aides, the sky would be their limit.
While giving kudos to Otuekong’s magnanimity, Essien described Otuekong as “A scholar, philanthropist, and lover of development”, stressing that Otuekong is among the notable Nigerians who once they step their feet in a place, things begin to turn around.
He added that he would do everything within his reach to turn around the fortunes of the schools.
