The arrangement has reached its crescendo by the Methodist Church Nigeria, Calabar for the inauguration of the Diocese Of Atamunu-Calabar, the Cross River State capital this Sunday.
Rt. Rev. Barr. Otuekong Ukut disclosed yesterday while answering questions from journalists in a telephone conversation in Calabar.
He stressed that the inauguration ceremony of the diocese of Atamunu shall be conducted by Prelate Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Oliver Ali Aba, JP, on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Apart from the inauguration, the church shall also embark on the commissioning of some basic infrastructural facilities which includes the commissioning of multi-million naira projects Bishop’s Office, Favour Shopping Centre Complex and branded signage.
Other projects which the church shall commission on Sunday include a School Block at 97 Atamunu Street, at the permanent site of the Susan Away Secondary School and the laying of the foundation stone for the Bishop’s Court, still under construction.

Among other events to mark the activity for the event are courtesy visit to the Treaty King of Efik Kingdom, the Obong of Calabar by the prelate and his entourage to rub minds on issues affecting mankind and the Nigeria nation with council members.
Another event packed by the church to boost the ceremony is the enthronement of His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Barr. Otuekong Ukut, PhD, as pioneer Bishop of (Atamunu Diocese) Calabar by the Archbishop, Archdiocese of Calabar, His Grace, Most Rev.(Amb.) Chimezuo Nwankpa on Sunday (May 7).

Commenting on the issue, Otuekong who is nick-named by friends and associates as “Billionaire Bishop” stated that the ceremony shall have three events intertwined in one event on the same day with men of influence and proven integrity, men/women of faith drawn from different denominations around the globe to grace the mega event.
“The three events are intertwined. It’s the reason we called it ‘Trinity Service’ which would showcase almost all the strides that we archived to reverend God Almighty.
Throwing more light on the Programme for the event, the former Permanent Secretary with Akwa Ibom State Government and Banker turned to clergyman said, “The ceremony would kick-start with the inauguration of the diocese, enthronement of myself as pioneer bishop of Atamunu Diocese, and presentation of the Lay President, Elder (Dr) Gabriel Inyang to the congregation on the same day being May 7, 2023.
“In the evening, there will be a prelate party which will be hosted by the new bishop, myself, the Rt. Rev. Barr. Otuekong Ukut PhD, will host the prelate and his entourage at the cathedral ground.
“That outlook is to formalise what the Methodist conference did on August 14 and 15, 2022, where I was selected as the pioneer Bishop of the Diocese of Atamunu and the Diocese was created out of the Calabar Diocese. By the Grace of God, Cross River State now has three dioceses; the Diocese of Calabar, the Diocese of Atamunu, and the Diocese of Ikom”.
Also expected at the ceremony is the prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence (Dr) Oliver Ali Aba, JP, his entourage, and the Secretary of the Conference, Rt. Rev. Babatunde Taiwo and Rev. Inyang Effiong and his entourage.
Others include the immediate past prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu and his wife.
