Calabar, Nigeria – In a way to kickstart the new year, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has distributed palliatives to security agencies in Cross River State.
The beneficiary agencies include the Nigerian Navy (NNS Victory), Nigerian Army 13 Brigade Command, Nigeria Police State Command, Nigeria Police Zone 6 Command, Department of State Service (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others.
Speaking on Friday in Calabar during the distribution, the Commissioner Representing the State at the NDDC Board, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, said the palliatives were part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renew Hope Agenda; to cushion the effect of the ongoing global economic crisis.
Duke, who practically distributed the items, said the NDDC is an intervention-driven agency, and so there was a need for the welfare of the security agencies in the state to be addressed.
He commended the able military and paramilitary personnel for their efforts in keeping the state safe, especially the just concluded Carnival Calabar and Festivals in the state.
Converseer reports that items distributed include 10 bags of 50k rice and 10 gallons of 4L vegetable oil each to the security agencies.
