The Labour Party (LP) has charged residents of Cross River to vote for its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and his running mate Sen. Yusuf Datti and not sit on the fence.
The party gave the charge on Wednesday during the grand finale of its 1 million-man Obi/Datti rally in Calabar.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that thousands of people especially youths embarked on the rally through the major roads in Calabar, singing and dancing with glee in support of the presidential candidate of LP.
In an interview with NAN during the rally, Dr Matthew Ebim, Coordinator of all Obi/Datti Support Groups in Cross River said Nigerians should be bold enough to tell others to vote Obi.
“I think Nigerians are afraid of saying vote Obi/Datti instead they say vote wisely; the wisdom they are talking about lies in the fact that LP has a more credible presidential candidate.
“The name Peter Obi is today seen as a metaphor for wisdom but what we are saying is that Nigerians should be bold to say it the way it is, vote Obi,” he said.

He said the rally was the party’s final push in Cross River to reawaken the spirit of the Obi/Datti movement in the state before the presidential election on Feb. 25.
Similarly, Mr Patrick Solomon, governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement, (NRM) in Cross River said they were marching in solidarity with LP to support Obi/Datti’s candidature.
Solomon added that they were preparing for the governorship election in the state and would continue to prepare until March 11.
On his part, Mr Effiong Nyong, Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), said they were partnering with LP because their presidential candidate was the most credible in the race.
Nyong who was a renowned journalist said Obi gives him hope that a new Nigeria was possible.
He, however, told Nigerians not to allow the crumbs from politicians to make them vote for the wrong person, adding that nothing they would be given would sustain them for four years.
Mr Jeremiah Adie one of the party supporters who spoke to NAN said sensitisation was high among the people, especially the youths in Cross River.
“You can see that we have a lot of young people in this rally, this is because we understand that Ob’s dream is that of the young people, in fact, the young people are contesting through him.
“We are urging all the young people in Nigeria to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready for Saturday because we will be voting in a new Nigeria,” he said. (NAN)
